Our Projects

Our mission is to assist the underprivileged communities in Malawi by implementing various initiatives such as educating orphan girls, empowering livelihoods through livestock distribution (particularly goats), supporting women's economic empowerment by raising cattle for milk, implementing small-scale irrigation, and providing social welfare programs to vulnerable communities.

We also carry out activities such as distributing food during Ramadan and distributing Qurbanie meat, constructing rural masjids, and providing clean and safe water.

Construction of Masaajid and Madrasah

At WAFA, we understand that the strength of a community is built not only on education but also on faith. As part of our mission to support rural communities, we are dedicated to the construction of Masaajid (mosques) and Madrasah (Islamic schools), providing essential spaces for worship and learning in areas that need them most.

Our Masaajid serve as vital centers for worship, community unity, and spiritual growth. These mosques are places where locals can come together to engage in prayer, learn about Islam, and build strong social connections.

Madrasahs, alongside the Masaajid, offer an integrated curriculum that combines Islamic studies with secular education, ensuring that students receive a well-rounded education to lead successful lives as both Muslims and responsible citizens.

Each Masaajid and Madrasah is a beacon of light, offering the local population access to both faith-based and academic education. These institutions foster not only the spiritual development of individuals but also provide a safe space for community members to come together and grow.

Girl Child Education

At the heart of WAFA’s mission lies a deep commitment to Girl Child Education. Through our flagship programs, such as the Noor Ul Hidayah Primary School and the newly established WAFA Abubakar  Siddik Girls Academy, we are empowering vulnerable and orphaned girls from underserved communities by providing them with free, quality, faith-based education in a safe and nurturing environment.

Empowering the Next Generation

Thanks to the generous support of our donors and well-wishers, WAFA has significantly expanded its impact. We now support 192 students at Noor Ul Hidayah, with the recent addition of WAFA Abubakar Bakhabar Siddik Girls Academy, our new secondary school dedicated to furthering the education of vulnerable girls.

At both institutions, our girls have access to:

  • Nutritious daily meals to promote health and concentration

  • Adequate learning materials to enhance academic performance

  • A conducive and clean learning environment

  • Spiritual and moral guidance rooted in Islamic values

We believe that education is the most powerful tool to break the cycle of poverty, and we are committed to giving every girl in our care the opportunity to thrive.

Academic Excellence & Character Building

Our students consistently excel in national examinations, with a 100% MANEB pass rate. Many of our graduates are now excelling in both private and public secondary schools across Malawi. With the establishment of WAFA Abubakar Siddik Girls Academy, we provide a seamless transition for our girls to continue their education in a supportive, Islamic environment.

Our alumni stand out not only for their academic excellence but also for their discipline, leadership qualities, and strong moral character. They are emerging as role models and change-makers in their communities — a true reflection of the holistic education they receive at WAFA institutions.

WAFA Jalsa 2024: Celebrating Girl Empowerment in an Islamic Environment

The 2024 WAFA Jalsa was a beautiful celebration of our students’ achievements, centered around the theme “Girl Empowerment in an Islamic Environment.” The event showcased how our girls are growing both in knowledge and faith.

Highlights included:

  • Qur’anic recitations and Islamic presentations

  • Inspirational speeches by students and staff

  • Cultural performances reflecting growth and confidence

The event echoed the Prophetic teaching:

“Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.” – Prophet Muhammad (SAW)

Through these moments, we witnessed the true essence of our mission — to nurture strong, educated, and faithful girls who are ready to lead tomorrow’s world.

Islamic Funeral Parlour

WAFA understands the social and economic challenges many people face, especially during funerals. Death often comes unexpectedly, and handling logistics and burial arrangements can be difficult.

To support the community, WAFA established a Funeral Parlour in the Eastern region of the country, providing free Islamic funeral services since its official opening in September 2020.Services Offered:

  • Ghusl-E-Mayyit(bathing) and shrouding of the deceased.
  • Free transportation from the hospital to the facility and then to their respective homes for burial.
  • Provision of Kaffan (white shrouding cloth).

This service has been a great support to the Muslim community, ensuring that the deceased receive a proper Islamic burial while easing the burden on bereaved families.
Impact:
As of 2023, a total of 203 families benefited. However, in 2024 alone, 78 deceased individuals were served, reflecting a 39.3% increase compared to 2023, when 56 deceased individuals were served.
-Out of the 78 deceased in 2024:
-44 were males (56.4%), and 34 were females (43.6%).
– Only 3 of the males were children aged between 2 to 13 years.

WAFA remains committed to serving humanity by ensuring dignity and respect in burial services,
free of charge.
