Our Projects

Our mission is to assist the underprivileged communities in Malawi by implementing various initiatives such as educating orphan girls, empowering livelihoods through livestock distribution (particularly goats), supporting women's economic empowerment by raising cattle for milk, implementing small-scale irrigation, and providing social welfare programs to vulnerable communities.

We also carry out activities such as distributing food during Ramadan and distributing Qurbanie meat, constructing rural masjids, and providing clean and safe water.

Early childhood development centres (Nursery Schools)

The Nursery school project intends to help children from eastern and southern region of Malawi, most nursery schools around the region are of Christian based and that exposes children from Muslim families to pagan teachings at their tender age.

Besides that, most Muslim families around the region cannot afford to pay the school fees for their children in those nursery schools.

The Nursery school objectives are based on caring, educating and empowering orphans and children from poor families for a better future, hence increasing social and economic developments. The Nursery school will also offer Islamic teachings and help children have a good upbringing to help them in this world and hereafter.

Muslim Funeral Parlour

Free service to Humanity

The Islamic faith has quite guidelines regarding funeral services. Families usually contact a
local Islamic Institution so that they can help with the planning of the funeral.
The preparation before an Islamic funeral consists of two rituals called Ghusl (washing the dead
person) and Kaffan (Shrouding)
It has been difficult for the Muslim population to follow the right procedures for the following
reasons

  • They leave in rented houses which are densely populated and house owners do not allow to do
    the process in their houses
  • They have to pay to access the service at the Government facility hospitals
  • To get kaffan is challenging most often

Orphan Girls Education Project

World Association Friends of Africa (WAFA) established an Orphan Girl Child School that provides
a better
future to girls living in difficult circumstances due to orphan hood.

Provision of education to orphan and vulnerable girls is a more reliable and sustainable approach
to
poverty reduction and well-being of the poorest communities in Malawi.

The project is being implemented in Zomba and Blantyre and enrolled 157 Girls across eastern and
southern
region of Malawi.

To support one Girl for complete one year it requires the following.

Mk 1,086,000.00 Malawi Kwacha
$ 1060.00 USD
£ 850.00 Pounds
R 19,300.00 South African Rands
They ask you (O Muhammad sallallahu a’layhi wasallam)
what they should spend. Say:

whatever you spend of good must be for parents and
kindred and
orphans and al masaakin (the poor) and the wayfarer, and whatever you do of good deeds,
truly Allah
knows it well”

(Surah: Al Baqarah, Ayah: 215)

Providing clean water through Borehall drilling

We work with rural Muslims in Malawi, areas where women walk more than five hours to find drinking water which in turn is unsafe. WAFA responded with borehole drilling.

Qurbanie

For many Malawian Muslim families, a meal consisting of meat is considered a rare luxury. For many years now WAFA has been slaughtering goats under strict shariah supervision and distribute to poor families in the eastern and southern region of Malawi.
